Here's how to exit your IRA from a private equity investment.
If you have private equity investments in your Self-Directed IRA (SDIRA), you may eventually need to sell or liquidate them. This guide will walk you through the process of selling private equity assets, including how to generate and submit a Sell Direction Letter through the Entrust Client Portal.
- Initiate the Private Equity Sale: Log into the Entrust Client Portal, locate the Quick Links” box, and click “Sell Asset.” Select the account from which you are selling the asset. Select the type of private equity asset (e.g., LLC, limited partnership, private stock) and click “Next.”
- Complete the Sell Direction Letter: After selecting your asset, you will be rerouted to our Private Equity Sell Direction Letter. Review and complete all required fields on the form.

- Sign the Form: If you opt for electronic signature, keep in mind that Entrust only accepts electronic signatures from the following platforms:

- Submit Your Sell Direction Letter: Once you complete the form, submit it to Entrust using one of the following methods:

- Entrust Processes the Sale: Once Entrust receives your completed Sell Direction Letter, our team will review and process the request. Processing typically takes 3–5 business days. If any information is missing, we will contact you for clarification.
